Many of our social and mobile games are powered by complex back-end systems, built in PHP and designed to support millions of players as they access our content and communicate with each other.

Key Responsibilities
The Mediatonic Game Designer role is an important part of our growth strategy. You'll be involved in the creation of many different type of game and will work with the Producers to ensure ideas are well thought out and planned.
In this role you'll be expected to:
- Take concepts from clients and develop them into a well-rounded game design.
- Create new IP from your own concepts or from concepts generated by others at Mediatonic.
- Take an idea or high-level concept and create a working game design document that details and communicates every aspect of the game: play mechanics, level outlines, UI, AI behaviour characteristics etc.
- Work with the Producer and Art team to establish a game style guide and design bible.
- Scrutinise metrics and use the information to shape content updates and future game designs.
- Work with the Producer to break down the design into manageable components that can be factored into the game schedule.
- Head design meetings with other key team members.
- Analyse, validate and incorporate feedback from user focus tests.
- Continually review the game and provide feedback to Programmers, Artists and Producers.
Requirements
We're looking for applicants who can demonstrate the following:
- A detailed knowledge of how to write a game design that communicates all of the essential information to other team members, Mediatonic management and external clients.
- Full of ideas and have the ability to express them in written and verbal form.
- A capacity to understand game math and what that math means in practice.
- Bursting with passion for the games industry
- Super knowledgeable about classic games, popular games and current trends
- The ability to work in a dynamic, creative and close-knit studio environment.
- Be a collaborative and gregarious team-player who is able to work with many different types of personality.
- Adaptable and can quickly pick-up new skills and ways of working.
An understanding of data-derived design for engagement, monetization, virality, k-factor and player retention will be advantageous.
Work Environment

Our working environment and culture is hugely important to us at Mediatonic. Our office is based in the heart of central London, we have a relaxed, open working environment with a games room and fully stocked fridge.
We run a number of social events and activities during and outside of work time including:
- Monthly Game Jams: Teams come together and attempt to make a game in 3 hours with the help of lots of pizza and beer.
- Game nights: Board game nights where we try new weird and wonderful board games
- Work outings: Weekly pub trips after work in Soho. Sometimes we even go to Nandos.
- Company lunches: Regular lunch outings on the company in restaurants across London.
